December 13th

imagesCAU7QFU8If you haven’t read today’s flame-grilled book, I urge you to go out and find a copy now, so that you can read it in real time. the book is the fabulous The Dark is Rising, by Susan Cooper, and is the second (and best) in the sequence of the same name. It begins on Midwinter’s Eve, and goes on until Twelfth Night. I love to read the chapters on the appropriate days. It’s a wonderful, and very English, fantasy, with everything I want in a Christmas book. On no account watch the film. Aaaargh!

And our thought for the day comes from Miss Piggy, and is highly appropriate given the number of chances to consume regrettable amounts of sugar, fat and alcohol that await us. ‘Never eat more than you can lift.’
