Day 14: Clinging on by my Fingernails…

imagesWho knew it would be so hard to post every day? People who do it, I suppose, but certainly not me.

‘Promising costs nothing, it’s the delivering that kills you.’ as today’s Anonymous quote puts it.

Today’s book is not a cheery read, but it is an inspiring one. It’s Testament of Youth by Vera Brittain. I’ve never read another book that brought home to me so clearly the horror of living through the First World War, and how utterly changed by it were those who survived. Vera Brittain worked in France and England as a nurse, and her description of her experiences has an immediacy I’ve not found anywhere else. Everyone should read this sometime.
